GOP Congressman Pushing for Criminal Investigation into Obama Officials

She said intelligence wasn’t used for political purposes. We know that’s false. There were a number of leaks of classified information involving US persons including Michael Flynn that are illegal… I think she dug herself more of a hole because two weeks ago she said she never heard of any type of unmasking.

— Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL)

As the various media scandals that have flooded Washington in recent days continue to swirl, one in particular seems to be unraveling faster than the others. I’m speaking of the revelation that the Obama administration spied on President Trump for up to a year before leaving office and that they seemingly “unmasked” the names of Trump team members before spreading Top Secret information throughout the government. It’s a scandal of gargantuan proportions and it’s more evidence of the lawlessness which was inherent within the Obama administration, but now their illegal activities may finally be catching up with them, as some in Congress are calling for a criminal investigation into the Obama team’s behavior.

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business News today to demand that the Obama officials (particularly Susan Rice) be held accountable:

This follows comments from DeSantis to the Washington Examiner on Monday, where DeSantis was adamant that Congress needed to get to the bottom of what really happened here.

“Congress needs to get to the bottom of this and the FBI should be investigating whether any laws were broken…

That Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice is alleged to have been responsible for this unmasking is troubling given her history of deceit and her close relationship with then-President Obama. We need to know whether the material gleaned from the Rice unmasking is the material fed to the media in an attempt to do political damage to the Trump administration and, if so, who was responsible for leaking it.”

DeSantis had something similar to say Monday to Lou Dobbs also on Fox Business News:

However, it’s not just DeSantis that thinks the latest revelations about Susan Rice and the Obama administration’s efforts to undermine President Trump, is a “smoking gun” proving criminal behavior. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) also believes that the latest reports are proof-positive that the Obama administration misused the intelligence community in an effort to derail the Trump campaign, and when that didn’t work they decided to use the information to undermine and impede the Trump administration.

Here’s Paul appearing on MSNBC and condemning liberals from pretending that none of this is actually a problem. 🇺🇸

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
