As the internet itself has allowed the world’s population to explore, expose, and disseminate information on the multitude of ways that we are held under the thumb of the world’s most powerful corporate entities.
The irony is incredibly delicious this week, as Google itself has become the victim of this renewed interest in truth and honesty long after attempting to become an unwieldy monopoly of information. Google, like Facebook, Twitter, and others, have become the de facto gatekeepers of all information, which is a particularly terrifying thought given how likely it is that the internet search company is technically an informational monopoly.
This fact is now becoming well recognized among world citizens, with the European Union completely obliterating Google with a $5 billion, (with a capital “B”), fine over its monopolistic use of the Android platform.
European Union regulators have slapped Alphabet-owned Google with a record 4.34 billion euro ($5 billion) antitrust fine for abusing the dominance of its Android mobile operating system, which is by far the most popular smartphone OS in the world.
Google said in a statement that it would appeal the ruling, arguing against the EU’s view that its software is restrictive of fair competition.
European officials say Google’s parent company has unfairly favored its own services by forcing smartphone makers to pre-install Google apps Chrome and Search in a bundle with its app store, Play. It also said Google violated competition rules by paying phone makers to exclusively pre-install Google search on their devices and preventing them from selling phones that run other modified, or “forked,” versions of Android.
Now, Google is getting prepared for similar issues here in the United States, hiring a number of lobbyists from the radical left in order to protect their selfish interests.
Google has recruited the #Resistance to lobby Congress giving a good idea of just how seriously the Internet giant takes accusations of anti-conservative bias on their platforms.
The same day that Google heads into the House Judiciary Committee to testify on that issue, Politico reports that Google also signed Oscar Ramirez and Dana Thompson of InSight Public Affairs as lobbyists. That personnel move could mean disturbing policy is around the corner.
Consider their resumes.
Both Ramirez and Thompson worked for the Podesta Group, the lobbying firm named after Tony Podesta, brother of Clinton campaign manager John Podesta and a person of interest to the FBI due to his ties to Ukrainian nationals.
Alarming but understandable, that experience isn’t what should tip off Republicans. The GOP should be more concerned that Ramirez and Thompson worked for two of the most unhinged Democrats currently in Congress.
Wait…just how unhinged are we talking?
One lobbyists worked for Texas democrat Al Green, who has been at the forefront of the efforts to impeach President Trump, and the other comes from Mad Maxine Waters’ camp – a congresswoman who has been famously deranged during the entirety of the Trump Era.
