God Bless the NYPD: Liberals Angry as NYPD Continues to Undermine Sanctuary City Policies

New York City is “technically” a “Sanctuary City,” and yes, it’s easier for illegal immigrants to hide in the Big Apple than it is in law abiding communities elsewhere in the nation. But you cannot blame the NYPD for these facts; no, all of the blame lies at the feet of New York’s liberal leaders. In fact, the NYPD is currently doing the best they can to undermine their city’s sanctuary policies, and it’s making liberal activists everywhere very angry.

From the Washington Free Beacon:

The New York Police Department reportedly notifies federal immigration officials when illegal immigrants are due in criminal court to face deportation, despite Mayor Bill de Blasio’s promise for New York to remain a sanctuary city.

The NYPD’s process of verifying warrants against a defendant involves contacting relevant law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so the agency is alerted to an illegal immigrant’s upcoming appearance in a city courtroom, the New York Daily News reported Sunday night.

Immigration advocates have accused the NYPD of “colluding” with federal agents and going against de Blasio’s vow that New York will remain a sanctuary city during Donald Trump’s presidency.

The policies were not written specifically to undermine Mayor Bill De Blasio’s orders that the NYPD not comply with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, but liberal illegal immigration activists say the policies do exactly that.

Lori Zeno is an advocate for illegal immigrants, and she just hates the fact that the NYPD is enforcing our nations laws. “I think it really is outrageous,” Zeno told the New York Daily News. “We’re supposed to be a sanctuary city. What does it mean if our own court system is participating in turning folks in to ICE?” Zeno would prefer that the NYPD cut itself off completely from its fellow law enforcement agency: “The mayor can issue a command to the Police Department that they shouldn’t be calling ICE,” Zeno argued. “Cooperating with ICE is one thing … But to me they seem to be in collusion with ICE.”

It’s difficult to understand why liberals choose ignoring/disobeying our laws over changing our laws. For several years, liberals had the majority in both Houses of Congress, and they had President Obama in the executive branch. Did they change our immigration laws? NO. Instead, they just chose to ignore them. WHY? Because they knew that changing the laws was a terrible idea and that voters would vote them out if they had done so. Instead, the Democrat Congress and the Democrat President kept the immigration laws as-is and went on their merry way.

I wonder how liberals would respond if the federal government reacted to local governments freezing out ICE by choosing to enact rules that would keep other agencies out too? So, if New York City refuses to work with ICE… then the FBI, DEA, and ATF refuse to work with NYC.

I couldn’t advocate for this kind of solution, but NYC has already done this to themselves by purposefully putting itself in harm’s way by refusing to work with ICE.

At the very least, our federal government should pave the way for citizens to sue “sanctuary cities” after being victimized by the illegal aliens who have been given sanctuary. Imagine thousands of people suing cities like New York and San Fransisco after being victimized by the illegal alien criminals that those cities harbor? It would be chaos, and it would cost those cities billions. Couple that with the cutting off of Federal funds, and even the liberals running these “sanctuary cities” would be forced to reconsider their position.

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
