Is Donald Trump a Christian who believe in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior?
If you ask Pastor Paula White, spiritual adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, yes, he is a Christian with a saving faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In fact, White claims to be the person responsible for leading Trump to Jesus.
So, who is Paula White and why do I refer to her as a false preacher?
Per her website:
“PAULA WHITE, pastor, teacher, author, international evangelist, inspirational figure, popular TV personality…woman of God. Known for her profound and dynamic Bible teaching, she is the host of the nationally syndicated program Paula Today. Transcending socioeconomic and denominational barriers, her powerful message of hope resonates among people from every walk of life.”
“With a faith undaunted by the task at hand, this mother, humanitarian and beloved mentor is also the Senior Pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida, a non-traditional church with a multi-cultural mission whose membership ranges in the thousands. A gifted exhorter and motivator, the core of Paula’s message is ‘delivering spiritual truths that transforms lives’.”
To begin with, as a woman, I firmly believe that Scripture is clear in that a preacher/teacher is to be a man, the husband of one wife who has his family in order. 1 Timothy 5:17 defines preachers and teachers as elders. Titus 1:5-9 spells out the qualifications for an elder (preacher-teacher):
“This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. [Emphasis mine]
White fails to meet the qualifications of an elder-preacher-teacher. She is NOT the husband of one wife. She is arrogant and preaches greed for gain.
White is a televangelist who often preachers the ‘prosperity gospel’, claiming that God is happiest when a believer is wealthy. This is NOT what the Bible says. 1 Timothy 2:12 states:
“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man;”
If God is happiest when we are wealthy and rich, then why was Jesus born, lived and died poor? Why did the vast majority of Jesus’s ministry centered around the poor and not the rich?
In Matthew 8:18-20, Jesus responds to a scribe who wants to follow Him, saying:
“Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. And a scribe came up and said to him, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’”
The only earthly possessions Jesus owned were the clothes he wore. He had no wealth. He had no house or mansion. He had no servants to wait on His every need. He had no storehouse of food. Jesus lived and died as poor as poor can be when He had the power to be the wealthiest person on earth in the most magnificent mansion with hundreds of servants and storehouses of food, clothing and things.
What about when Jesus encountered the rich man in Mark 10:17-25:
“And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’ And he said to him, ‘Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.’ And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, ‘You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’ Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.’ And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, ‘How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!’ And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, ‘Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.’”
Does this sound like a gospel of prosperity? The only person becoming prosperous and happy with the teachings of Paula White is Paula White, who is worth millions of dollars.
“They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.”
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words.”
Some sources are suggesting that Paula White will be present when Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on January 20, 2017. They are also saying that she will pray with and for Trump and his presidency.
While I greatly favor Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, his spiritual relationship with Paula White is an indicator of how weak and shallow his so-called Christianity really is. He has probably been swept up in her prosperity gospel that makes him feel righteous in his extreme wealth, when in reality, he could be spiritually poor and bankrupt due to his following of a false and dangerous preacher – Paula White.
I can’t help but think of Donald Trump and Paula White when I read 2 Timothy 4:3-4:
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
