What’s Wrong With Clinton Supporters?

It’s the political season, and we’ve all seen multiple stories from Hillary Clinton supporters about what’s “wrong” with us conservatives, not to mention what’s “wrong” with Donald Trump.

A prime example is the article by “neuroscientist” Bobby Azarian, published at Raw Story.

According to Azarian, possible explanations of why Trump supporters are Trump supporters include the Dunning-Kruger Effect, which is an academic way of saying Trump supporters are dumb, so dumb they don’t know they’re dumb, and thus they resist enlightenment at the hands of liberals.

Trending: Science is Settled

He quotes psychologist David Dunning, who has been published in that eminent peer-reviewed journal Politico:  “The knowledge and intelligence that are required to be good at a task are often the same qualities needed to recognize that one is not good at that task — and if one lacks such knowledge and intelligence, one remains ignorant that one is not good at the task. This includes political judgment.”

The second point Azarian makes is that we conservatives are very fearful creatures. “Science has unequivocally shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response when faced with stimuli that may be perceived as threatening,” Azarian writes. So when Trump talks about scary illegal immigrant criminals and Muslim terrorists, we can’t help but cling to his pants leg.

Paralleling that is Terror Management Theory, which basically says when we’re reminded of our own mortality (like if a terrorist slaughters scores of people at a night club) we tend to rally around people who share our worldview and against the “reasonable” people who oppose it (like liberals).

Azarian’s other excuse is High Attentional Engagement, which means we are easily amused and The Donald is very amusing (and Hillary’s just dull as dirt, if not stomach-churning).

Then there are the people like ABC commentator Cokie Roberts who have convinced themselves that people who don’t support Hillary Clinton are just misogynists who hate women. If that sounds familiar, it’s the same page in the Democratic Party playbook where criticism of Barack Obama could only be because he’s black and the critic is racist.

I have a couple of different theories regarding all this.

People who are fiercely pro-Trump for the most part are that way because they want a candidate who will defend the country from criminals and terrorists, and protect its borders so that the American way of life won’t die.

Yes, it’s really that simple.

So let’s return the favor and raise the questions that liberals won’t ask themselves: What makes people, including many college educated ones, like self-styled “neuroscientists,” support Hillary Clinton, despite her long track record of corruption and criminality?

What makes them think that the nation would be safe in the hands of a woman so power-hungry and self-possessed that she exposed national secrets on her server and probably got several U.S. intelligence agents killed, yet so criminally connected that the FBI director was afraid to recommend indictment and the attorney general cut a deal with Hillary’s husband?

What makes them believe that Hillary is a defender of women’s rights, when she has been the enabler for her abusive husband and terrorized his victims in an effort to silence them?

What makes them think she can form an effective foreign policy when her term as secretary of state resulted in a Middle East and North Africa more chaotic and more under control of terrorists than before, a Europe that is slowly falling over the edge, and a militarily stronger and more belligerent Russia?

What makes them believe that she will defend the country’s interests, when her entire career has been about disrupting American government and society, forcing it toward socialism, as her mentor Saul Alinsky taught her?

I could cite all the same baloney Azarian does and flip it onto Hillary supporters — it all applies, particularly the part about being too stupid to know they’re stupid. But I think it’s something more basic than that.

They don’t see Hillary as an individual. This is in keeping with the heart of liberal ideology. In the socialist worldview, people are not valued for themselves, they are only valued as fodder or fuel for the state, for their assigned “class.” Individual traits, personality, skills, characteristics — none of it matters in the socialist utopia, just a person’s utility for his assigned role.

And that’s why I think Hillary’s history, personality, beliefs and goals don’t amount to a hill of beans for her followers. She’s just a placeholder, “The First Woman President,” just like Barack Obama was “The First Black President,” and his past and personality didn’t matter.

The recent presidential candidates for the Democratic Party are just tokens meant for two things: to keep Democrats in charge and to make them feel good about their own views, which deep down they know have been destructive to the world around them.

Liberals are seeking vindication, and if Trump doesn’t win, the world will once again suffer for their guilt.
