How could Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders make Hillary Clinton’s nomination untenable? By ignoring her.
It isn’t formalized yet, but if Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders go through with this, it may marginalize Hillary so much that she doesn’t get the nomination.
So Trump is willing to debate Bernie Sanders—something Hillary has refused to do.
Game on. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7 primary.

Thomas Lifson at the American Thinker comments,
Either candidate could back down, but both men have a strong interest in making Hillary Clinton look like a coward for refusing to engage Sanders in a debate.
So what does Hillary do? She would look terrible asking to be included, after having refused to debate Sanders. And she would look terrible by not being there. In other words, trumped.
How could the Democrat Party have any hope of winning with a candidate who is so marginalized?
