When politically correct terms first started is blurred, but I’m sure it had to have started with some whining liberal that didn’t like to face the truth about his or her condition. Or they could have been started to hide the truth and make it sound more palatable or acceptable to a group of people.
‘Bald’ is now ‘folically challenged’. ‘Blind’ is now ‘visually challenged’.
Most Americans would instantly bristle and react against anything labeled as being socialist but when hearing about social justice, it sounds so much better and more agreeable. After all, who wouldn’t want justice in a social context. Yet, the term ‘social justice’ was coined to replace the bitter tasting term ‘socialism’ or ‘socialist’.
Over twenty years ago, a friend of ours told us that she had to spend an entire day attending a seminar on politically correct terms to be used and what terms to no longer use in the real estate business. She told us that they were instructed to stop using the term ‘master bedroom’ because it denotes slavery and could be offensive to some people. Referring to a house or piece of property as a ‘place with a view’ is no longer acceptable since some people are visually impaired and would be offended. She used to refer to family friendly and low crime neighborhoods as a ‘quiet’ place to live, but that was banned because some people MAY misunderstand it to refer to a senior citizen community, which there are plenty in Arizona. The ironic part is that I worked for a utility and spent some time in senior communities and some of them are just as loud and busy as neighborhoods with lots of kids.
Over the years, I’ve reacted to many politically correct terms and still refuse to use some of them. for example, I will NEVER use the term ‘African America’ to refer to a black person. Many blacks have never been to Africa. Besides, we have close friends who have lighter skin than I do and they are from South Africa. They are now US citizens which truly makes them African Americans even though they are not black. They have told me that the term ‘African American’ is highly offensive to them. I’ve had many people tell me that their offense is not enough to avoid using the politically correct term, but to me, it is.
Another politically correct term I hate and refuse to use is ‘Native American’ when referring to American Indians. I was born here in the United States and that makes me a native American. Yet, if I refer to myself as a native American on any legal documents, I could face repercussions.
Another politically correct term that draws my ire is ‘undocumented immigrant’. They are ILLEGAL ALIENS and if they are offended by a truthful label then let them go back to their own countries. They are in the US illegally. They violated federal law by coming here without going through proper channels. Growing up in Arizona I heard a lot of other terms for them that I won’t repeat, but suffice it to say that since they are here illegally and they are aliens to our nation, they are illegal aliens.
Politically correct terms are now invading the medical profession according to this report:
“A prominent association representing medical professionals in Great Britain has asked its staff not to use the term ‘expectant mother’ to avoid offending transgender and intersex patients, leading some critics to slam the organization for being too ‘politically correct.’”
“The guidelines, published late last year by the British Medical Association (BMA) in a 14-page booklet titled ‘A Guide To Effective Communication: Inclusive Language In The Workplace,’ asks them to instead use the term ‘pregnant people.’”
“‘Gender inequality is reflected in traditional ideas about the roles of women and men,’ a pamphlet explaining the guidelines reads, according to Metro.co.uk. ‘Though they have shifted over time, the assumptions and stereotypes that underpin those ideas are often deeply-rooted.’”
“‘A large majority of people that have been pregnant or have given birth identify as women,’ the pamphlet continues. ‘We can include intersex men and transmen who may get pregnant by saying ‘pregnant people’ instead of ‘expectant mothers.’”
Politically correct language is getting completely out of control and catering to a select minority who is already offensive to the majority of the people. Anything that goes against their perverted lifestyles they scream is offensive.
Yet no one cares how offensive something is when it offends Christians, traditional straight people or conservatives. They can blaspheme against Jesus, the Bible and God all they want but say one thing negative about homosexuality such as the Bible says it’s a sin and they are offended, upset and threatening to take legal action to shut you up.
It won’t be long until a conservative Christian won’t be allowed to say anything truthful without ending up in jail or being sued.
I’ll probably get in trouble for this but if liberals continue to get their way, you’ll probably never hear or read a statement like this again:
A blind, bald black man was beaming with pride when his daughter, who married an American Indian, gathered everyone in her master bedroom to announce that she is an expectant mother who is looking forward to raising her child in their quiet neighborhood.
