Democrats Adopt Platform That Calls for Prosecution of Climate Change Skeptics

I can’t even begin to remember how many times over the years I’ve pointed out to Liberals that fascism in all its glory is a product of the Left, springing from the same Marxist well as socialism and communism.

Although in public Adolf Hitler always posed as anti-Communist for purposes of manipulating his followers into fighting against Russia, in private he acknowledged that at its root, Nazism and Communism were the same except for National Socialism’s focus on race and nationalism.

On the so-called “other side,” the Red Army in its early days even used a swastika as its symbol.

Needless to say, those sorts of facts go right over the heads of leftists, who have invested decades of effort in distancing themselves from Hitler’s Holocaust.

But they can’t avoid their anti-individualist instincts, as the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee just proved by adopting a platform to encourage the legal prosecution of anyone who doubts their global warming hysteria. The approved party plank says (emphasis added):

Climate Change and Clean Energy: Moving beyond the “all of the above” energy approach in the 2012 platform, the 2016 platform draft re-frames the urgency of climate change as a central challenge of our time, already impacting American communities and calling for generating 50 percent clean electricity within the next ten years. The Committee unanimously adopted a joint proposal from Sanders and Clinton representatives to commit to making America run entirely on clean energy by mid-century, and supporting the ambitious goals put forward by President Obama and the Paris climate agreement.  Another joint proposal calling on the Department of Justice to investigate alleged corporate fraud on the part of fossil fuel companies who have reportedly misled shareholders and the public on the scientific reality of climate change was also adopted by unanimous consent.”

Let’s see a show of hands of anyone who thinks this will stop at “fossil fuel companies.”

Thought so.

It should be no surprise that prophet of doom and climate huckster Michael Mann was involved, giving testimony to the platform committee.

Mann’s most infamous contribution to global warming hysteria was the long-since-disproven “hockey stick graph,” which purported to show that global temperatures were flat, flat, flat until — boom — a massive temperature rise hit in the late 20th century. The hockey stick graph was a starring point in Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth.” Like any discredited argument that’s been featured in a Hollywood movie, the hockey stick still has its apologists among the Left, and it still shows up in many schools. Also in keeping with the Left’s love of discredited “scientists,” Mann’s reputation has only grown among Liberals.

And what Mann had to tell the platform committee is, frankly, shocking coming from someone reputed to be a scientist — or at least it would be if it weren’t for Mann’s background of shameless fraud.

“Fundamentally, I’m a climate scientist,” Mann said, “and have spent much of my career with my head buried in climate-model output and observational climate data trying to tease out the signal of human-caused climate change. What is disconcerting to me and so many of my colleagues is that these tools that we’ve spent years developing increasingly are unnecessary because we can see climate change, the impacts of climate change, now, playing out in real time, on our television screens, in the 24-hour news cycle.”

So, data is unneeded in climate science, according to one of its leading alarmists, because of TV and the Internet. Clearly, ratings-driven news outlets that need exciting images to attract viewers have proven that “extreme weather” is on the increase.

Meanwhile, actual studies using actual data, such as one done by the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies last year, have found that we’ve been having the longest lull in Category 3 hurricane activity in all of recorded history. Similarly, “record” heat and spectacularly damaging floods are nothing new, unless you’re a devoted warmista.

The climate prosecution plank is, of course, following up on the actions of a handful of Liberal attorneys general who have sued Exxon as the first company to be made an example of by what they hope is the upcoming Hillary Clinton regime. Clinton pal and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz oversaw the platform process, so you can bet Hillary had a hand in its final form.

The platform has the usual pro-abortion, pro-living wage, anti-capitalist, socialist drivel woven throughout, but the open call for prosecution of climate change skeptics ups the ante and provides a preview of the sort of tactics a Hillary presidency would resort to against political opponents of all sorts.

The Democratic Party platform still has to undergo a final vote, but it doesn’t seem likely Liberals will change their spots before their convention, because they haven’t since the early 20th century.

In 1927, Hitler said, “We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions.”

And that’s really what the Democrats are all about, isn’t it?
