Country Legend Charlie Daniels calls for “Sanctuary Cities” for the Preborn

Charlie Daniels is a brilliant musician, but he’s also a wonderful person and he recently came up with the best idea i’ve heard in a while… “Sanctuary cities” for the preborn.

The idea is this conservative states, counties, cities, and towns across our great nation should refuse to abide by federal laws that allow abortion. Instead, they should simply declare themselves to be “Sanctuary Cities” where the preborn child can be safe from fear of being murdered by a doctor because their government won’t protect their rights.

I wonder how liberals would react to such a movement? Would they do as they did with County clerk Kim Davis whose religious beliefs wouldn’t allow her to participate in gay marriages and attack them as lawless? There would be a sense in which they were right, but the Sanctuary City precedent would seem to make those liberals hypocrites. If certain localities can exercise their moral imperative to disobey federal laws on immigration, why couldn’t other localities exercise theirs to defend life?

We could also hold up the example of California here.

When the Center for Medical Progress exposed both Planned Parenthood and their allies for a scheme to sell the body parts of babies for a profit, Planned Parenthood was able to escape unscathed by the state’s justice system (though their less-influential allies are currently in court). However, the people who exposed Planned Parenthood’s illegal behavior, CMP and David Daleiden, have now been charged with 15 separate criminal counts! Why? Perhaps because Planned Parenthood is a major donor to the current Attorney General, but there’s also the possibility that California’s leaders are exercising their morality and choosing to protect abortionists while prosecuting the people who exposed them. If the AG can choose to ignore upholding some laws, while enforcing others… why can’t conservatives states do the same?

I think Charlie Daniels is on to something here…

Daniels also recently gave an interview to Daniel Defense about the 2nd Amendment and the growing trend of liberal fascism. When asked about what he sees in America today, Daniels responded:

“Some people are willing to lose some freedoms just to maintain their way of life. I’m not. I don’t want to lose my freedoms. I don’t want my freedoms taken away from me. But some people are that way and they are becoming more and more every day. You know, apathy and arrogance are America’s two worst enemies. Unfortunately I feel the ebb of patriotism again. I can’t believe that we have set back in this country and let things deteriorate to the point that they are, and I cannot believe how very unaware about 40 percent of the population of this country are about what is happening.”

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
