Congressman says Obamacare Repeal Slowed because GOP Didn’t Think “Trump Would Win”

I have no idea what people thinking about whether Donald Trump would win the election or not had to do with the GOP having a repeal Obamacare bill in place. However, at least one Republican congressman claims that the reason the repeal of Obamacare has been delayed is due to the opinion that “very few people thought Trump would win.”

Speaking with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Friday, Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) about President Donald Trump’s address on Tuesday evening, as well as another number of topics.

Like many, Hice praised President Donald Trump’s speech before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, calling it “outstanding.”

Hice then spoke about repealing Obamacare.

“The problem is on Obamacare,” he said. “Just to be very honest with you, I think very few people thought Trump would win. They were in defense mode, as to what are we going to do if Hillary wins this thing, and then when, fortunately, Trump won, everything started changing rapidly.”

Well, the obvious question should be the same question I asked when all those GOP puppets walked out and declared they needed time to repeal it and I asked, didn’t you guys try repealing it six times before? If so, why not just send the most thorough of those bills up to Trump and repeal the stupid law? I’ll tell you why. The establishment GOP in DC wants to control healthcare just as much as the Democrats. They just want a different version with their name on it.

Since the American people are willing to sit by and let them do it, they will continue to do it. The central government has no authority to dictate healthcare or the purchase of health insurance. They may regulate commerce between the states, but that simply means to make commerce regular, not impose all sorts of bureaucracy and regulations on commerce.

While Hice says there are multiple bills being constructed to replace Obamacare, I would urge that a full repeal of Obamacare be performed with no replacement and things go back to how they were before the legislation. Then, there be a bill passed that does not replace Obamacare, but simply opens up the marketplace for regular free trade regarding health insurance across states lines, and that’s it; no mandates to purchase the insurance and no mandates form the government to impose restrictions or demand insurance products provide certain things.

This would be a true free market solution and let the insurance companies compete for people’s business with full insurance or simply catastrophic insurance, which is something Senator Rand Paul seems to be speaking about with his piece of legislation. At least he understands that much of what is being talked about is unacceptable because it is unconstitutional.

Trump’s executive order regarding the IRS and Obamacare was called “truly revolutionary,” and many people may just save themselves a big tax penalty by not stating whether they had health insurance or not this past year.

It really is time the Republicans put up or shut up if they are serious about repealing Obamacare. They have at least six Obamacare repeal bills they can push through. In fact, just to be on the safe side, why not push all six of them through? Eliminate the burden and stop wasting money on a system we know has failed, is failing and will fail in the future. Cut off the bleeding now, and stop making excuses.
