Hysteria has a funny way of creeping up on you from the shadows, and not truly revealing its horrid shape until it comes screaming for you in the middle of the afternoon.
The nightly news cycle certainly doesn’t help.
Every night, as we settle in to “prime time”, the major cable news antagonists look at their viewership charts and decide when to put their most controversial guests on.
Which commercial break should an all-but-guaranteed argument occur?
“Which advertiser has been whining the most about the poor ratings?”
“Make sure to put so and so ahead of their commercial break. We can’t lose their revenue.”
These imaginary conversations are likely not all that imaginary. CNN and others are just businesses after all, with only one real way to stay afloat: Tricking you into watching their stories.
Now, yet again they’ve turned to controversy in order to bring you back around, allowing one of their usual analysts to go off the deep end in a racist rant that blames Antifa violence on African Americans.
CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin bizarrely pinned the blame for Antifa violence on black Americans Tuesday night, saying that the far-left group is “widely perceived as an African-American organization.”
In response to President Trump warning of Antifa violence should Democrats win the midterms, Jeffrey Toobin said, “Let’s be clear also about what’s going on here. The theme here is, ‘I’m Donald Trump and I’ll protect you from the scary black people.’”
“Antifa is widely perceived as an African-American organization, and this is just part of the same story of LeBron James and Don Lemon and Maxine Waters and the NFL players and the UCLA basketball players,” he continued.
“This is about black versus white. This is about Donald Trump’s appeal to racism and it just happens all the time. And we never say it. We don’t say it enough for what it is, but that’s what’s going on here,” he added.
Fortunately for Toobin, his inexcusable opinion comes at a time in which CNN refuses to admit wrongdoing of any kind in order to avoid yet another notch on their “fake news” bed post. He’ll be left on his own to deal with this prejudice on his own.
