Is Chuck Schumer – “the Most Trivial Politician Ever”?

I really enjoyed seeing this headline as I scrolled down my Facebook feed on Wednesday night.

It was from Reason Magazine Online, and its simplistic perfection was a delight to this reader. Here’s what it said, Meet Chuck Schumer, One of the Most Trivial Pols Ever. And Your Next Senate Minority Leader”! OUCH! That had to hurt, eh Chuck?

But let’s be honest, Reason’s editor Nick Gillespie – who wrote that brilliant line – is right on the money with his criticism, isn’t he? Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) truly is one of the MOST TRIVIAL politicians in American history. In fact, he’s really only known for two things: being related to the disgusting comedian Amy Schumer, and for always being in the background of photos with other politicians.

Here’s the money line from Gillespie:

So what kind of leader is Chuck Schumer? He is among the very most trivial politicians to serve in that crucible of triviality, mediocrity, and dead weight we call the U.S. Senate.

No issue is too stupid or inconsequential for Schumer to weigh in on, inevitably calling for a ban or regulation that serves no other possible purpose than to shine a light on the glory and grandeur of Chuck Schumer.

Oh, that is a thing of beauty. Gillespie’s words drip with the contempt that Schumer has so justly earned. Thankfully, Gillespie goes even further in his piece and delivers (for the uninitiated) the proof that Schumer is a worthless sot who has spent most of his life leeching off of the good people of the Empire State.

Here is a short list of the trivial tasks that Schumer has been not-so-hard at work at over since 1999!

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
