Christianity Spreads Through Iran Due to Visions of Jesus

Christians know God works in mysterious ways. However, this may be the most miraculous proof of that in our times.

Faithwire is reporting that Iranian Muslims converting to Christianity has “increased from 100,000 in 1994 to 3 million today.”

“Right now, you can see the results of the holy spirit,” Pastor Rahman Salehsafari told CBN News of the situation today in Iran. “You can see what the holy spirit is doing with people.”

So, what is the driving force behind these conversions? God himself. Much as he did in Biblical times, God is speaking to people in their dreams.

“I had a dream. I had a dream long time back and every time that Jesus was with me. And in all of my life, he was helping me and I didn’t know who was this person,” explained a man named Reza. “Suddenly, Jesus Christ was over there and he said, ‘Come to Me.’ And I came to that side and he accepted me.”

Last year, Barazan Azeezi revealed his story. An Iraqi Muslim, Azeezi actively persecuted Christians. Similar to Paul’s experience, Azeezi claims Jesus spoke to him in a dream.

During an interview with the Christian Post, he explained, “I was a devote Muslim and often preached, but there was something missing. There was something empty about Allah and the Koran. Jesus appeared to me in a dream and open my eyes … what has missing was His love and peace.”

Azeezi described his conversion after reading the Bible.

“I used to be a violent person internally and I was always afraid of Allah. I kept following instructions to satisfy him; however, as I read the Bible I began to love the true God and see His truth.”

However, Azeezi did not just have to worry about other Muslim extremists.  His conversion put him at odds with his family as well.

“In the beginning, my family thought I was joking and claimed that I was going mad. After months of debates, they started to threaten to kill me. … It was God’s grace that helped me overcome the fear.”

Iran imprisoned American Pastor Saeed Abedini for years for preaching Christ. Campaigns and pressure finally resulted in Abedini’s release with no help from the Obama Administration. The Christian community highly criticized Obama for not at least obtaining the release of Pastor Abedini and other prisoners in his Iran Deal.

This revival is coming during a time of heavy Christian persecution. While Iranians convert, they find themselves being driven from their country. Their new religion forces them to also find a new home.

One of Abedini’s congregants, Afshin, fled to Turkey. There, he tells CBN News that, “Iranian Christians can worship more freely as they seek refugee status with the U.N.”

He continued, commenting on how life has changed for him.

“I can freely praise the Lord,” he said. “I can easily go to church. It’s really completely different.”

However, it’s not just in Iran. Even while ISIS massacres and beheads followers of Jesus all through the Middle East, people continue to turn to Christ.

According to Christian Today, “Christianity in the Gulf states is surging. Amid a shocking exodus in neighboring countries, this strictly Islamic region has seen a jump in its Christian population.”

We are witnessing God’s hand with our very eyes. It is often said that Christianity spreads faster and wider during periods of extreme oppression. It looks like that is completely true.

But that’s just my 2 cents.
