Campus Snowflakes Have Scales Removed From University Gym

If you were to listen to the left side of America, you would be led to believe that you have a right to not be offended.

Sure, that sounds absolutely absurd, but the progressive left has been pushing an agenda of “social justice” for decades, turning even the most mundane differences in people into a cause du jour.  Take, for instance, the idea of “body shaming”.

According to the social justice warriors of the nation, body shaming is a form of bullying centered around one’s appearance.  It doesn’t necessarily mean that someone who is overweight will be the only victim, however, with some on the left going so far as to lecture their acquaintances anytime they offer up a compliment about losing weight or being skinny in general.  Not content with interjecting their false brand of protection merely on an emotional level, these progressives are now adjusting the accouterments of their surroundings to fit their own agenda.

“Administrators at Carlton University have removed the bathroom scales from the campus gym, claiming that ‘being fixated on weight’ does not ‘have any positive affect on your health.’
Bruce Marshall, Manager of Health and Wellness at the Canadian university, argued that an intense focus on health and dieting might be counterproductive to the well-being of students, which resulted in the removal of the scale from the university’s gym.

“’We don’t believe being fixated on weight has any positive affect on your health and well-being,’ Marshall told the Charlatan newspaper. ‘The body is an amazing machine and even when we are dieting and training it will often find a homeostasis at a certain weight.’

“Carleton freshman Samar El Faki lambasted those who disagree with the decision to remove the scales as ‘insensitive.’ ‘Scales are very triggering,’ she said. ‘I think people [who disagree with taking it out] are being insensitive because they simply don’t understand. They think eating disorders are a choice when they are actually a serious illness.’”

Next up for these attention-mongering leftists will be a campaign to remove scales from doctors’ offices as they too can be “triggering”.
