Fox News’ premiere on-air personality, political pundit, and author Bill O’Reilly was unceremoniously canned this week after several nasty allegations of harassment surfaced involving the television host.
At first, the allegations stemmed from a plethora of alleged incidents of sexual harassment that dated back years. O’Reilly was quickly shuffled off-air and suspended while Fox sorted out the sordid details.
In the days since, more accusers have come forward with claims against O’Reilly, spanning the entire gamut of harassment: Sexism, racism, bigotry, etc. Now that O’Reilly has officially been let go from Fox News, with Tucker Carlson assuming the longtime hosts prime-time slot, the accused has prepared a defiant statement regarding the incident.
““Over the past 20 years at Fox News,’ O’Reilly wrote. ‘I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television.’
“He called the circumstances surrounding his firing ‘tremendously disheartening’ as they were based on, in his words, ‘completely unfounded claims.'”
O’Reilly, not one to step foot in the gutter and abolish his tact, then wished Fox News the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Bill O’Reilly’s run at Fox News will not soon be forgotten, as his domination of primetime news talk shows may never be replicated.
