I think we’re starting to see a trend. Over the last few months liberals have seemingly become ever more comfortable with using violence to attempt to accomplish their political goals. Throughout the summer, candidate Donald Trump’s supporters were routinely harassed, demeaned, and abused by liberal protesters, and since the Inauguration, our nation has seemingly suffered through one LONG leftist protest.
On Wednesday, the most recent publicized flare up took place in Berkeley, California where violent liberal thugs attacked Trump supporters, destroyed private property, and started fires all in an effort to keep right-wing speaker Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking on campus.
The very next day Canadian conservative Gavin McInnes was scheduled to speak at New York University (NYU), but had a very difficult time getting in to the venue because of irate liberal protesters. Once in, the atmosphere did not improve as protesters continually heckled and interrupted McInnes’ speech, refusing to allow him the opportunity to be heard. The entire event was cut short and McInnes left without getting the chance to really speak.
(The video contains some salty language.)
A spokesman for the NYU College Republicans said it was a “shame” that liberals couldn’t respect the views of others and allow the guest speaker the opportunity to be heard.
“I’m disappointed that many students on this campus are so disrespectful when it comes to hearing opposing speakers. Our intention was not to advocate for McInnes’s views, in fact many of us differ with him when it comes to certain ideas. The purpose of this event was to promote free speech and NOT to promote certain ideas.
There’s a strong idea on this campus that the slightest opposing views are completely unwelcomed. We understand that his presence was controversial but we didn’t expect these outburst [sic] from this institution. We hope that in the future, NYU students will be more open to hearing ideas that are different from their own.”
Outside the venue the situation was perilous and may have only been calmed because McInnes left early.
One protester in particular is earning a lot of attention. She claimed to be a professor and she spent most of her time berating the police for NOT physically assaulting McInnes and his supporters.
(Starting around 10:20 in the video: be forewarned the language is foul, and definitely NSFW.)
“You are fucking assholes!” the professor yelled at the NYPD. “You’re protecting the Nazis! … You should kick their ass!” she told the police, speaking of McInnes and his supporters. “You should!”
The professor also argued that she and her students were too well educated to participate in violence, so the police should carry out the violence for them.
“These are kids who are trying to learn about humanity! They’re trying to learn about human rights and against racism and xenophobia, and LGBTQ rights, and you’re letting these fucking neo-nazis near here! It’s not up to these students to kick the ass of a neo-nazi! They don’t have to raise their fist! They were taught to be peaceful! Fuck you!”
Apparently, while she feels above committing violence herself, she is not above demanding that others commit violence in her stead.
Here’s a longer version of McInnes’ speech at NYU, not that he actually ever gets to say much. Again, a warning for the content, some of it is profane.
