One email in the latest batch released under a Freedom of Information Act request shows clearly that the plot to cover up the real cause of the Benghazi attack that left four Americans dead began in the White House and was undertaken just to make President Obama look good in an election cycle.
Other emails and memos have shown that the State Department under Hillary Clinton, as well as other agencies, knew while the attack was happening that it was being led by terrorist mercenary groups that had been planning the assault for some time.
Despite that, the White House and State Department maintained for weeks that the attack was spontaneous and inspired by an obscure Internet video. Obama Administration officials insisted they were presenting the best information they had available at the time, which we now know is not true, and even told the United Nations the story about the video, along with the conclusion that there should be no counterattack.
Trending: Science is Settled
The memo released by Judicial Watch on Friday is from then-White House Deputy Strategic Communications Adviser Ben Rhodes, sent three days after Benghazi to other White House communications personnel, and lays out how the communications staff were to spin the Benghazi story, in order to “underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy” and “to reinforce the President and Administration’s strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges.”
President Obama was within two months of the election for his second term of office at the time, and any impression that he was incompetent and his policies had resulted in American deaths could have been disastrous for his Administration. Then obviously, once the lie was told, it had to keep on being told.
The email seeks to turn what clearly was a serious policy failure into an opportunity to portray the president and his Administration as strong and on-the-ball. Rhodes wrote that communications staff should stress, “We’ve made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message.”
It should be noted that Ben Rhodes, who issued the email, is the brother of David Rhodes, the president of CBS News, the same outfit that pressured reporter Sharyl Attkisson into quitting at a time when she had been just about the only journalist investigating Benghazi.
Media Matters, the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party that feeds most major media the official liberal viewpoint, hailed her resignation and accused her of “shoddy reporting” and floating conspiracy theories.
(Media Matters never got so nasty toward Candy Crowley, who lied for President Obama on national television. Wonder why?)
There is still more that needs to come out officially about Benghazi, like who gave the stand down order that the White House denies happened but that several witnesses have said was given.
Then there’s the whole can of worms about why Ambassador Chris Stevens and the CIA were in Benghazi in the first place. Many people have deduced that it was to oversee a gunrunning operation that was supplying rebels in Syria and ultimately led to the massive insurgency that is known as ISIS. The memos that must exist somewhere have yet to see the light of day.
The Administration’s hubris and its condescension toward the American people know no bounds. It’s long been suspected that the whole Internet video story was concocted from whole cloth for the purposes of protecting Obama’s re-election chances.
This email proves that beyond any reasonable doubt.
Because of Obama’s incompetence and his minions’ lying minds, four American families have been left to twist in the wind, without answers as to why their loved ones died.
We can only hope that there are people who will continue to push and uncover the rest of the scandal, so that some day, someone will face punishment for the malfeasance of this Administration.
