Ah. George W. Bush… such a breath of fresh air.
The former President appeared on NBC’s Today Show with Matt Lauer on Monday to talk about a project he’s working on to help our wounded Veterans. However, you KNOW that the mainstream liberal media just can’t help themselves and if they’ve got an opportunity to bash a Republican, they’re going to take it. Matt Lauer just couldn’t help himself and he used the face time with Bush to attempt to cajole the former Commander in Chief into criticizing the current one (something that Bush refused to do during the Obama years too). Needless to say, it didn’t work out well for Lauer, but it did make for good TV.
Lauer: But there’s enormous division right now. And although President Trump has said he hopes to unify the country, have you, in the first month, seen him do or say anything that, in your opinion, would be an attempt to heal the wounds of the election?
Bush: Well, first of all, there’s only been one month in office. And so it’s a – you know, he’s got four years. Secondly, I think you have to take the man for his word that he wants to unify the country and we’ll see whether he’s able to do so. It’s hard to unify the country, though, with the news media being so split up. When I was president, you know, you mattered a lot more because there was like three of you and now there’s all kinds of information being bombarded out and people can say things anonymously. It’s just a different world.
Make sure you watch it again and this time pay close attention to Matt Lauer’s face as Bush tells him he doesn’t really matter anymore… it’s just delicious. Lauer can’t seem to decide if Bush is joking or if he should be offended and his face gives his confusion away.
The former president is right though… the biggest obstacle to President Trump’s attempts to “unifying” the nation is our national media. Not because they’re reporting the news, but because they’re reporting the news in such a skewed and biased way.
