In the aftermath of the Weekend War in Charlottesville, a great many Americans have been forced to reexamine their political tone.
By all accounts, the political divisiveness of our nation has become a liability and a threat to the United States of America. Beginning from the moment that Donald Trump was elected President, an ever-widening chasm of hate and intolerance has opened up, promising to swallow us whole if we don’t somehow come together.
We can certainly lay blame for much of this vitriol on the radical left, whose “resistance” to Donald Trump’s presidency has turned from constant, consistent bickering and name-calling, to all out violence the likes of which we have not seen in our nation in 170-some years. This loosely-organized “resistance” has made way for the rise of violent “antifa” groups who employ the brutal “black bloc” tactics of the West German protesters of 1977. Clad in black clothing from head to toe, complete with masks to hide their identities, these ironically monikered neo-fascists trade in fear and political bigotry to gather numbers and strength.
The “resistance” has also spawned outright political assassination attempts such as the GOP baseball practice shooting carried out by radical leftist and Bernie Sanders campaign supporter James T. Hodgkinson. After a bevy of celebrities glorified the death of the President via their media stranglehold, Hodgkinson carried out a dastardly plan to open fire on a group of republican congressmen. Thankfully, no one was killed in the incident, but Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise spent weeks undergoing surgeries, in and out of the ICU after Hodgkinson struck him in the hip with rifle fire.
Now, after the death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville over the weekend, these leftist twerps could not resist the opportunity to exploit her funeral for their own political gain.
“A group of antifascist protesters armed with purple shields and bats showed up to the Wednesday funeral of a woman mowed down by a white supremacist who struck her with a vehicle.
“Antifa, a collection of left-wing protesters, decided to crash the funeral of Heather Heyer, a white woman who died after a white supremacist drove his car into a crowd of protesters during a white nationalist riot.
“The antifascist activists claimed they showed up armed because ‘the police won’t protect the people,’ according to a reporter on the scene.”
This is quite possibly one of the worst displays of liberalism that we have seen in the wake of Charlottesville, but it certainly won’t be the last.
By appropriating the death of Heyer, her family’s grief, and the political tsunami that has already flooded the nation in her wake, these “antifa” protesters have once again demonstrated their complete lack of empathy and decorum. Their selfishness and unethical use of Heyer’s funeral for political gain only serves to stoke the flames of political violence in our great nation.
