As Attacks on the 2nd Amendment Increase, Look What’s Happened At The NRA

America, both your First and Second Amendment Constitutional rights are under assault by the liberal “news” media and the media’s junior partners, the liberal social media scene. But as these two evil agents seek to end your God-given rights to free speech and to protect yourself, one organization is growing; new memberships in the National Rifle Association are soaring.

First the good news: Since the latest left-wing onslaught against our right to bear arms began in the aftermath of the crime at a Parkland, Florida, high school, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has had an “onslaught” of its own with an avalanche of new paid members.

According to a recent piece by the Daily Mail, Google searches for “NRA membership” rose 4,900 percent since the crime in Parkland. That rise happened despite the pressure against the NRA brought to bear by the Democrats, the media, and Hollywood celebrities.

The NRA does not report its exact membership preferring only to give general numbers. In the recent past the civil rights group claimed to have about five million members. However, in the wake of the Parkland shooting, one NRA official recently noted that it will soon be breaking the 15 million member mark, Time magazine reported.

The hike in membership also came despite the attempt to boycott the NRA pushed by liberal-led social media. Apparently, as far as regular Americans are concerned, the boycott didn’t work and, instead, sent people into the NRA’s open arms.

The NRA isn’t the only Second Amendment rights group to gain new members.

As Time noted:

Dudley Brown, the president of the National Association for Gun Rights, estimated his organization — which claims more than 4.5 million “members and supporters” on its website — estimated online membership applications at his organization could have grown by 30% over the last week, a number he expected to rise after Trump this week called for comprehensive gun reform legislation, including raising the age limit for buying certain weapons to 21. The Connecticut Citizens Defense League, which has a membership of almost 29,000 people, said it typically gets 15 or 20 applications a week, but received almost 200 in the last week. Gun Owners of America, which says it has 1.5 million members, amassed “hundreds” of new members in the last week, according to an official at the organization familiar with membership numbers who spoke on condition of anonymity. The organization said it has seen it’s membership grow by thousands since the Las Vegas shooting last October. Don Turner, the President of the Nevada Firearms Coalition and NRA member, estimated membership renewals and requests had increased by 20 percent at his organization since Parkland, although this is an increase he said he did not witness after the shooting in Las Vegas.

So, what is going on, here? It is hard not to understand that these surges in new members are a serious backlash against the left by ordinary Americans.

Before we go into that backlash, remember who it is that is being driven to buck the liberal narrative. These new NRA members are not shadowy, lobbyists, who are somehow beholden to gun manufacturers, or any sort of “establishment” or agency. They are you and me. Normal, everyday Americans.

So, when these liberal are saying they want to “kill the NRA,” what they are saying is that they want to kill normal, everyday Americans. They want to kill YOU, America.

Almost daily since the liberal attack on the NRA started in earnest, Americans have been signing up for the NRA. And many have taken to Twitter to thank the agitators for driving them to make their choice.

Activist teen David Hogg has been the subject of many Tweets reporting on a new membership. Take “Deplorable Melissa” for instance who tweeted, “I’m getting Ready to join the NRA thanks to David Hogg & if you Are tired of the bullying from the left you should to #JoinTheNRA #HoggWash.”

Hogg is often tagged as the latest reason people have bucked the liberal establishment and joined the NRA, a local shooting club, or some other firearm association or group.

Well, I could go on all day locating and pasting these Tweets into this post.

Liberal activists like the diminutive Hogg are not the only reason Americans have been driven to take the plunge and join the gun rights movement. The media is also a driving factor.

“After ten minutes of CNN’s town hall ‘debate’ I had already searched for gun safes, the closest firearms dealer near me, classes on gun safety, and an NRA membership,” Robert Norman wrote in a column for the Federalist.

Norman added, “I bought my first gun because of the CNN town hall.”

“The town hall was a display of tyranny,” he noted. “For tyranny has never come from a single person, but rather from a mob cheering for the destruction of liberty and rights from those with whom they disagree.”

Liberal social media companies have also helped drive people toward the NRA, not away from them.

Take how Twitter has been treating Parkland student Kyle Kashuv. While Twitter has fallen all over itself to give its vaunted “blue check mark” to the liberal, anti-Constitution students of Parkland, the social media giant has not treated Kyle nearly as well.

As the social media network raced to help the liberal kids push their anti-American message, they have completely ignored Kashuv and not given him its blue verification. Why? Because Kashuv is pro-gun. While liberals have been parading these kids around treating them as “experts,” they have completely ignored this kid. This proves that the media doesn’t care about these kids because they are experts, but only because they are espousing the “correct” ideology.

While many regular Americans reacted in contradiction to the liberal activists and liberal media, many American corporations were frightened into siding with the anti-gun fanatics.

According to The New York Times, over a dozen national corporations have cut their former ties with the NRA.

That list includes:

  • The First National Bank of Omaha
  • Delta Air Lines
  • United Airlines
  • Allied Van Lines
  • North American Van Lines
  • Avis Budget Group
  • Hertz
  • Alamo
  • Enterprise
  • National
  • Starkey Hearing Technologies
  • MetLife
  • Chubb
  • TrueCar
  • SimpliSafe
  • Symantec

Most of these companies ended NRA member discounts when they cut ties with the civil rights group. But, these very public splits sent many new members to the NRA. One Second Amendment fan told Time that no gun owner (or potential NRA member) cared about those discounts in the first place.

“There is no one. NO ONE. Who joins the NRA for a discount on a rental car,” Cleta Mitchell, an NRA member and former board member, told Time.

Mitchell added that the NRA won’t lose a single member because these corporations cut ties with the gun group.

On the other hand, at least one of these corporations lost millions of dollars because of dumping the NRA.

Delta Airlines lost $40 million in tax breaks that were in the works in the state of Georgia after it made its decision to dump the NRA.

As soon as Delta dumped its NRA discounts, Georgia’s Republican Lt. Gov., Casey Cagle, quickly jumped to Twitter to note that he would work to end the tax breaks that were in the works in the Peach State.

Sure enough, Cagle fulfilled his promise and the state passed its budget deal without Delta’s tax cuts included.

So, all this pretty much show why the NRA is growing by leaps and bounds despite the best effort of the left.
