At an event for the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Al Sharpton told attendees that if Donald Trump wins the presidency, he’ll leave the country, unless President Trump “deports” him first:
“If Donald Trump is the nominee, I’m open to support anyone [else], while I’m also reserving my ticket to get out of here if he wins, only because he’d probably have me deported anyway.”

In an interview with Bill O’Reilly, Donald Trump stated that he knew Al Sharpton better than he knew O’Reilly, as he’s worked with him for many years. Trump said that on Sharpton’s TV show, he called Trump a racist, but later Sharpton visited Trump’s office to apologize for the accusation. Trump attributed Sharpton’s behavior as just Al “doing his thing”:
“Well look, I know Al Sharpton better than I know you and I dealt with him for years and years and years and you know when he’s not political he says oh I love Donald Trump, I love Donald Trump but I will say – in fact, he came up to my office not so long ago to apologize because on his show, which is now off the air which is a fortunate thing, he called me a racist and he came up, he literally came up to my office and he apologized to me, which, by the way I thought was very nice…You know Al is just doing his thing, Bill. He does his thing, we all do our own thing, he was doing his thing and he continues to do it.”
Perhaps Sharpton’s latest threat to leave the country if Donald Trump wins the presidency is just Al “doing his thing.”
Trump’s right. They all “do their thing.” They do what they have to do in order to win. Sharpton does his thing in riling up his base to maintain his following, and Trump does his thing to get people to vote for him. Who knows what the real Donald Trump is like “when he’s not political.”
