ACLU Leader Resigns Because She Doesn’t Want Her Daughter Exposed to “Transgenders”

Last week the interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) resigned because she can’t support the transgender bathroom mandate.

According to Life Site News, Maya Dillard-Smith said her daughters were “frightened” after being exposed to men dressed as women in the woman’s bathroom. She said:

“I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered.

“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer.”

Dillard-Smith adds that the ACLU has become:

“a special interest organization that promotes not all, but certain progressive rights” and that the “hierarchy of rights” the organization chooses to defend or ignore is “based on who is funding the organization’s lobbying activities.”

She emphasized:

“I understood it to be the ACLU’s goal to delicately balance competing rights to ensure that any infringements are narrowly tailored, that they do not create a hierarchy of rights, and that we are mindful of unintended consequences. I believe there are solutions that can provide accommodations for transgender people and balance the need to ensure women and girls are safe from those who might have malicious intent.”

But Dillard-Smith’s view of the ACLU’s position isn’t accurate: the LGBTIQ movement’s goal is to force Americans to accept an intolerant radical agenda– not to ensure equality.

Interestingly, a transgender activist — a biological man who calls himself Cheryl Courtney-Evans called Dillard-Smith “lazy,” “ill-educated,” and a “b–ch” who needs to “sit down” and “STFU.”

But Dillard-Smith isn’t lazy or uneducated. She earned a masters degree at Harvard and a degree in economics from Berkeley. And, as Life Site News reported, Dillard-Smith earned her degree at Berkeley while she worked for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court. She was also the youngest ACLU director in the country and only one of three Blacks employed at that level by the ACLU.

Dillard-Smith created a website, Finding Middle Ground, dedicated to creating a “safe space” for people to discuss the “transgender” issue. A video on the site raises the questions:

“How can we ask these kinds of questions without being called a homophobe?

“How do we prevent predators from preying on kids in bathrooms?”

But Obama and his regime don’t care about these questions. Or the truth.

I am the supreme law of the United States. Originally comprising seven articles, I delineate the national frame of government. My first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it. I am regarded as the oldest written and codified constitution in force of the world.
