I know people are probably tired of hearing about Harambe the sacred gorilla. If so, you can stop reading. However, I think the whole incident offers an important insight into the American mind.
A kid got away from his parents, entered a gorilla habitat, and was flung about by a male gorilla named Harambe. As the horror played out, the zoo’s emergency response team decided that the only option was to shoot the gorilla.
Outrage ensued. Because people couldn’t blame the 4-year-old, or the zoo–which followed procedure–they found a place to aim their figurative guns. The allegedly negligent parents. Without really knowing anything about how the boy managed to slip away from his parents, a “Justice for Harambe” petition on Change.org was created:
“We the undersigned believe that the child would not have been able to enter the enclosure under proper parental supervision.
Witnesses claim that they heard the child state that he wished to go into the enclosure and was actively trying to breach the barriers. This should have prompted the parents to immediately remove the child from the vicinity.
It is believed that the situation was caused by parental negligence and the zoo is not responsible for the child’s injuries and possible trauma. We the undersigned want the parents to be held accountable for the lack of supervision and negligence that caused Harambe to lose his life.
We the undersigned feel the child’s safety is paramount in this situation. We believe that this negligence may be reflective of the child’s home situation. We the undersigned actively encourage an investigation of the child’s home environment in the interests of protecting the child and his siblings from further incidents of parental negligence that may result in serious bodily harm or even death.
Please sign this petition to encourage the Cincinnati Zoo, Hamilton County Child Protection Services, and Cincinnati Police Department hold the parents responsible.”
The petition is quickly approaching half a million signatures. Half a frakking million people have signed this nonsense petition based on nothing but “witnesses say claim that they heard the child state that he wished to go into the enclosure.” That’s the evidence they have.
A friend of mine on Facebook put it perfectly when he said:
“If you place blame on the mom for ‘not watching her child,’ either you aren’t a parent or you’re somehow a perfect parent. So, kudos.”
He’s right on. But beyond all the armchair gorilla experts out there in a desperate run to place blame at someone’s feet, this incident shines a spotlight on just how frighteningly depraved our society has become.
Sure, an endangered animal having to be put down is a sad thing. But in the face of over one million annual abortions, it’s kind of a nothing burger. Every year, approximately 11,000 infants are aborted past 20 weeks gestation. This is the point at which they can survive outside the womb with intensive care, and are clearly human beings.
I believe that life begins at conception, but for the sake of argument, let’s stick to the 11,000 whom everyone would agree are clearly human beings.
Where’s the outrage for them? Where’s the “Justice for dead babies” campaign with half a million signatures in two days? 11,000 infants are literally torn apart with sopher clamps annually, and it’s lauded as “a woman’s right.” A “right” to kill.
Just so you’re aware of what goes into an abortion procedure in the second and third trimesters, here are two videos by Dr. Anthony Levatino in which he details the processes by which children are murdered:
It’s so easy for people to care about animals because it’s not controversial. The Left has brainwashed millions into believing that animal life is more sacred than human life. They don’t state that outright–but by their fruits, you shall know them. They promote the annual slaughter of thousands, then become outraged by the death of Harambe. Ipso facto, the Left cares more about animals than people.
The indoctrination by the Left includes a campaign dedicated to keeping Americans ignorant. Survey 100 “pro-choice” people at random, and I guarantee a solid 90 percent of them will not be able to describe an abortion procedure. They simply don’t know. They’ve been conned.
It’s a sad and sickening reality that a dead gorilla gins up such fervor, but the daily brutal murder of actual human beings is not given a second thought.
We are lost.
