Vice President Pence and His Wife make a Difference in aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

The press has been unable to attack the Trump administration’s response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, mostly because the government response has been quite successful.

The federal government has worked hand in hand with state and local governments, as well as with private organizations and individuals, to help alleviate the suffering of the victims left in Harvey’s wake.

In fact, the response to Hurricane Harvey has been the most successful post-disaster response that our nation has seen in decades, and so the media has been forced to look for other ways to complain about President Trump.

When he flew to Texas they began by criticizing him for visiting “too soon” after the event. Then after his visit obviously went well, they criticized him for not being “empathetic” enough. Then after pledging to donate $1 Million of his own personal money, the media attacked the President for “politicizing” the event. The man simply cannot win with our media.

Even as all of this was unfolding the Trump administration ignored the media and continued to do everything within their power to bring hope, and peace back to the people of Texas and Louisiana.

One of the most compelling moments in the aftermath of the storm came from the Pence family’s visit to Texas, where the Vice President personally helped in the clean up efforts.

VP Pence asked Mrs. Pence to pray for the victims of the hurricane, for the workers who were cleaning up after the destruction, and for the American people. Mrs. Pence graciously complied and offered an emotional prayer of thanksgiving and encouragement.

“We pray that you would build them up, give them the strength and the endurance as they go forward. We thank you for the first responders and those who at this very moment are saving lives. We pray for their safety and a blessing on them..

We know you’re here with us, Lord and we just pray your blessing on the state of Texas and Louisiana as they go through some hard days going forward. We know that You will lift us up.”

What may be most telling about the visit, the prayer, and the days’ events was that everything seemed to go off without a hitch and once again, the people of Texas seemed to truly appreciate the Trump administration’s efforts to help.

This is what America is all about. We have historically been a fiercely independent, and self-reliant people, but we have also always been willing to help our neighbors in their time of need.

We need more of this in America today, and less of the divisive and mean-spirited rhetoric being chanted on the streets and spewed online.
