While Donald Trump has struggled with meddling leftist legislators and judges while attempting to curb our nation’s immigration woes, those enforcing the laws on the books are humming right along.
President Trump was elected by the people of America after a campaign in which he promised a two-prong attack on the most damning immigration issues that we face: Radical Islam’s fast approaching jihad disguising itself as middle eastern asylum seekers, and illegal and undocumented workers pouring over the southern border, and bringing gruesome drug cartel violence with them.
For the time being, Trump’s plans to combat these serious issues have been severely limited by democrats and liberals in legislative and judicial roles. The proposed wall between Mexico and the U.S. seems to be abandoned as congress has vowed not to touch the subject, and the President’s twice ordered travel ban has only been partially enacted after a series of leftist judges joined the so-called liberal “resistance” to the President – one such judge making has decision the same weekend in which he enjoyed a dinner with former President Barack Obama.
Trump still has the federal immigration forces at his disposal, however, and the leeway that he has given them to enforce the laws already on the books is resulting in incredible efficacy.
“Arrests of illegal immigrants have more than doubled in San Diego, California, under President Trump’s immigration orders.
“In a report by the San Diego Union-Tribune, new data shows that illegal immigrants in southern California are being arrested at roughly the same rate before former President Obama’s era of relaxed border policies.
“Between February and May, nearly 550 illegal immigrants were arrested in San Diego alone by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
“Compare that to the number of illegal immigrants arrested in that same time period last year, where only 242 foreign nationals were arrested. In 2015, during the same time frame, ICE agents only arrested 267 illegal immigrants.
“Authorities commented on the recent change of pace.
“’We’re still focusing on criminals, but we’re not confined to them,’ ICE’s Assistant Field Director in San Diego, Clinton Johnston told the San Diego Union-Tribune. ‘It’s the ability for us to enforce the law across the board.’”
While the President has certainly been stymied in the installation of two of the largest pieces in his “contract with America”, that doesn’t mean he can’t still be effective.
Trump’s business background obviously gives the real estate mogul the ability to solve complex problems quickly and effectively, and this refocusing of federal forces such ICE seems to back up that assertion. The democrats will likely block the wall and the travel ban for as long as Trump attempts to employ them, it is reassuring to know that our President can pivot and adapt to clearly work toward his goals with such grace.
