Melania Trump and Donald Trump

Trump Campaign Worker Takes the Fall for Melania’s Speech

Reposted with Permission from Jeff Dunetz at the Lid…

Donald Trump’s campaign has named the speechwriter responsible for the plagiarized 70 words in Trump’s wife Melania’s speech Monday night at the RNC.

Her name is Meredith McIver and she’s an in-house staff writer with the Trump organization, released a statement Wednesday accepting blame for the speech, which threw the left wing media into a frenzy with accusations of plagiarism for the three passages which seemed to come a speech delivered by Michelle Obama at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

“My name is Meredith McIver and I’m an in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization,” McIver said in the statement embedded below,.

“Yesterday, I offered my resignation to Mr. Trump and the Trump family, but they rejected it.”

(…) In working with Melania Trump on her recent First Lady speech, we discussed many people who inspired her and messages she wanted to share with the American people. A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama. Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech.”

(…) I apologize for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused. Today, More than ever, I am honored to work for such a great family. I personally admire the way Mr. Trump has handled this situation and I am grateful for his understanding,”

Read the letter below and perhaps the MSM can forgive Ms.McIver, the Trump family already has.
