Texit Texas Secede

#Texit, Anyone? If Clinton Wins, the Majority of Texans would Support this…

A recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) found that a majority of Texans – 3 out of 5 – support seceding from the nation if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency.

In general, only 1 in 5 Texans support secession. But there’s just something about the prospect of a Hillary presidency that invigorates Texans’ independent spirit. The Houston Chronicle reported:

If anyone needs proof that the presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton truly is dividing the country, they should look to Texas.

According to poll results from Public Policy Polling released Tuesday, three out of five Texans said they would support seceding from America if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

The left-leaning polling firm learned Donald Trump leads 50 percent to Hillary Clinton’s 44 percent after polling Texans. According to the polling results from PPP, only one out of four Texans support seceding from America generally. But when faced with the possibility of a President Hillary Clinton, a majority of Texans said they’d rather leave.

I guess you could call it “Texit.” If Britain could pull it off, why couldn’t Texas? I think most people did not expect Brexit – especially in this modern, electronic-voting machine age. Of course, Britain still does things the old way – by paper ballots. Perhaps that’s why they succeeded in their secession.

To many Americans, the idea of secession sounds like a great idea. I’m definitely not opposed to it, but states have grown so dependent on the federal government. A state suddenly divorcing itself from the feds would mean that it would be completely on its own. (I know…that’s the point.) No more federal funding for anything.

And not to mention that the feds would not be open to the idea. If the federal government’s propaganda campaign failed in getting a state to give up its secession movement, the whole force of the U.S. government would come down on that state to stop it from leaving.

Even if the state were to succeed, how would the feds treat the new “country?” Would they ban air travel to and from the nation? Would they declare it a “State Sponsor of Terrorism?”

Perhaps a Hillary presidency would be enough incentive for people to fight even harder for secession, to the point of fighting another war. Would it be worth it?
