For most people, there seems to be this guilt that is just below the surface. Guilt that is taught and encouraged in whites is always present and drives a wedge between the races. This guilt has led to much injustice and hatred. But not the way most of us think.
When we look at the present state of Black America, there is a mix of feelings. On many levels, there are those who seem to have found the “dream” Martin Luther King Jr. spoke about on the Washington Mall. But for a vast majority, they are little better off than their slave ancestors. For many, there is the struggle with this reality. A fact that seems to grow ever destitute at the passing of each generation.
But, finally, there is a voice of reason. Someone who is both intelligent enough and brave enough to point to the truth has said what needs to be said. In an Op-ed piece, Sheriff David Clarke addresses the event in Milwaukee.
David Clarke writes
As Sheriff of Milwaukee County, I am furious that the progressive left has put my citizens in harm’s way and that I had to send my officers into cauldrons of anarchy and hatred that were created by the left.
Sheriff David Clarke has been very vocal as to the problem with our country and with the black community. He has stated things clearly. But, this is not just a political jab, it seems to be personal. He appears to be trying to reach his people before they destroy themselves.
As a leader who understands that freedom and earned success are the pathways out of the ghetto, I’m disappointed, too, in any Republican that feels they need to tiptoe around the patently obvious issue at-hand: we are folding our society of freedom ensured through law-and- order over to bullies of the left. The politicians and talking heads on both sides of the aisle who offer little resistance and total cowardice.
The failed progressive urban policy causes anger and resentment in people that simmers below the surface. The officer-involved-shooting was simply a catalyst that ignited the already volatile mixture of inescapable poverty, failing K-12 public schools, dysfunctional lifestyle choices like father absent homes, gang involvement, drug/alcohol abuse and massive unemployment.
And though all this is true, Sheriff Clark does not leave the rioters without their measure of guilt. Because as he ably points out, these people are slaves without bonds. They have chosen to do nothing about their situation.
The actions were the manifestation of a population with no hope, no stake in the American dream that could provide advancement and purpose and pride of self. They are the ones lied to, exploited by and ultimately manipulated by the Democrats who claim to care. They are victims of the left, but they are not without blame. It’s time for them to remember their own humanity, their own dignity, and to fight for that return to the American Dream that the left would withhold from them.
If only they would listen.
