Sean Hannity seems to be on the verge of losing his cool. Hannity has been fighting tooth and nail for his favorite candidate for months, and while his efforts helped Donald Trump win the GOP primary… he doesn’t seem to be having much positive effect on the general. Mr. Trump continues to fall further behind in the polls, and as Trump slips, Hannity seems to grow ever-more aggressive.
Now, to be fair, he’s not exactly wrong about his most recent commentary on the mainstream media’s biased reporting. The vast majority of liberal media outlets have long been “in-the-tank” for Hillary Clinton, and it didn’t matter which GOP candidate won the primary, that media bias was always going to be against them.
However, Hannity’s direct assault on CNN was bit surprising, first for his use of “colorful” language, and secondly for his decision to call-out CNN’s Brian Stelter. Stelter earned Hannity’s ire over the weekend when he called Hannity’s reporting on possible Clinton illnesses “irresponsible.” Here’s what Stelter said: “Let me be clear. That was reckless speculation by Sean Hannity. All of it… Her doctors say she is not physically fit to be president. Conspiracy theories are so much more interesting than the truth. But the last time I checked, Fox still has the word news in its name.”
Now, here’s how Hannity responded on Tuesday’s episode of Fox & Friends:
“Mike Pence told me the other night that they are playing 2-on-1. The media is so in the tank, so onboard for Hillary, they are so abusively biased. I literally watched this show on CNN over the weekend and you’ve got this little pipsqueak named Brian Stelter, and he allowed this arrogant professor from the Kennedy School of Journalism to talk about Trump being a demagogue and demagogues like Trump become dictators. That’s the type of coverage that CNN offers in this presidential race as they literally kiss Hillary Clinton’s ass and Obama’s ass everyday.”
That’s some fire right there.
Conservatives will be happy to see Hannity turning his guns on the liberal media. He’s had more than a few run-ins recently with people who should be his allies on the conservative side of the aisle. Most of them have been of the #NeverTrump variety, but the venom in the debate is still palpable and probably not helpful.
