Until now, scientific study indicated the heart in a human embryo begins beating 21 days after conception. New research from the University of Oxford has just discovered that the human heart actually begins beating even earlier.
Daily Mail reports:
“In the study, published today in the scientific journal eLife, researchers studied the developing mouse heart and found that the muscle started to contract as soon as it formed the cardiac crescent – an early stage in heart development.
“In mice, this crescent forms 7.5 days after conception, which is equivalent to day 16 in the human embryo.”
The University’s research was conducted for purposes of combating congenital heart disease. However, their results give more proof to the pro-life argument.
People have been led to believe that a fetus is just tissue. Scientific evidence that the human heart begins beating 2 weeks after conception proves otherwise. Women respond to that knowledge.
According to the Family Research Council’s website, over 80% of women who have ultrasounds reject aborting their baby.
- Eight in ten pregnancy resource centers report that “abortion-minded” women decide to keep their babies after seeing ultrasound images.
- According to an executive director of an Iowa pregnancy resource center, 90 percent of women who see their baby by ultrasound choose life.
- One pregnancy resource center director in Baton Rouge states that “Ninety-eight percent of women who have ultrasounds choose to carry to term.”
Many state governments have implemented laws requiring pregnant mothers receive an ultrasound before moving forward with an abortion. They know the heartbeat is evidence of life. Planned Parenthood knows it too which is why they attack and sue states over their ultrasound laws. They cannot let the truth out.
I will always contend that life originates at conception. It is when the whole miracle of life begins. But I will take the argument that a beating heart is proof of a living, developing human being.
As a human being, that fetus has rights and must be protected under the Constitution. To take its life is murder, plain and simple.
But that’s just my 2 cents.
