Remembering Our Veterans, Must Watch: “Just a Common Soldier” Tribute

2015 marks the 25th anniversary of a popular poem written by Canadian veteran and columnist A. Lawrence Vaincourt.

“Just A Common Soldier,” also known as “A Soldier Died Today,” first published in 1987, now appears in numerous anthologies and on thousands of websites.

On July 4, 2008 the poem was carved into a marble monument at West Point, New York.

Concerned Veterans for America’s used the poem in its latest tribute video released earlier this year, which is narrated by actor Tony Lo Bianco.
