There are times that we say things that we should not say. We are completely honest in the wrong company. You know what I mean; when no one has asked, but we volunteer our opinion. I believe this is what happened to Bill Clinton recently.
Monday in Spokane, WA, while campaigning for his wife, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton characterized President Barack Obama’s time in office as the “awful legacy of the last eight years.”
Clinton said, “If you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us, and the seven years before that where we were practicing trickle-down economics and no regulation in Washington, which is what cause the crash, then you should vote for her.”
Bill seemed to forget for a moment that the cameras were on, and all the world could hear what he was saying. But, even if we overlook that for a moment, this seems like a harsh criticism of a man that your candidate of choice served under.
Maybe he was thinking of Bush when he said that there was an “awful” legacy. Perhaps, as Bill is getting up there in age, he slipped. But is this really what you want to say? No! And there are two reasons this could not be the case.
First, if you know anything about the man, there is no way you will buy this line. Bill Clinton is a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them. Bill mesmerizes his speeches. He knows what he is going to say and when. He is a polished speaker. Besides that Bill is sharp and quick on his feet. Though I hate his beliefs and his progressive policies, this is why “Slick Willy” was President.
Second, if we look at what Bill says about the seven years of trickle-down economics and no regulations, then we will see exactly of when Bill is speaking. This surely was not Bill’s policy. Clinton started his Bush bashing with these comments. This means that “the awful legacy” is all Obama.
This points to the fact that Bill does not even like Obama’s handling of things. Maybe even seems to blame Obama for our divided country. Wonder if they will kiss and makeup before the general elections?
