There is nothing that is more inflaming than hypocrisy. When someone has a standard for themselves and another for everyone else, people are angered. So, when we hear of LGBT groups coming after businesses for not serving them, it rings hallow.
A small town bakery owned by a Christian family is under siege after they declined to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.
Edie and David Delorme own the Kern’s Bake Shop in Longview, Texas — known around town for their petit fours and sugar cookies — and also their custom-made wedding cakes.
The trouble started when two men asked to have their wedding cake made at Kern’s. They were told that because the owners were Christians, they could not fulfill the order. And even though the men were offered a list of other bakers, they left apparently angry.
A few days later she received a telephone call from the local newspaper. The gay couple had gone public — and had accused the Delorme family of discrimination.
“It just kind of makes you feel dehumanized,” Valencia told the News-Journal. “People shouldn’t have to worry about going into a business, especially a public business that serves the public, and have to worry about being turned away for something, for who you are.”
Marmolejo told the newspaper he couldn’t understand why the couple just didn’t violate their religious beliefs.
And though the couple has always sought to stand on Christian principles when running their business, this refusal has brought threats and protests. So, though Kern’s never has made cakes that have to do with lewdness or alcohol, they are being attacked as racists.
Because of the legal attacks other Christian bakers have faced, the Delormes have hired First Liberty a religious liberty law firm.
“We just want equal rights,” David told me. “We want to be treated equally.”
And is this not the point? Do these and all business owners not have the right to run their business according to their religious convictions? Being that Kern’s is not the only baker in the area, why can these men not go to one of them to bake their cake?
But, as we have seen, the LGBT community has no real concern for liberty. They only want conformity to their twisted reality. They want the Delormes to agree that what they are doing is normal.
This is hypocrisy.
