Last week, Sarah Saldana, Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. She was questioned about the number of illegal aliens with criminal convictions that were released back onto America’s streets.
According to Saldana’s testimony, about two-thirds of the 19,273 released criminal illegals during 2015 fiscal year, were due to the Supreme Court decision in the Zadvydas v. Davis case. In that case, the high court ruled that any illegal who had successfully completed his or her sentence could not be held indefinitely just because that person’s home country refused to take them back.
The actual figures on the number of released illegals with criminal convictions was coincidentally release just minutes prior to the committee hearing. What Saldana failed to consider was that at least one member of the House committee would have had time to read the report and know the numbers.
According to ICE’s own report, only 11% (2,166) of the illegals with criminal convictions were released back onto America’s streets due to the Zadvydas v. Davis ruling. In fact, 7,293 (37%) of illegals with criminal convictions were release due to ICE discretion.
Saldana’s lying testimony is just another example of how the Obama administration seems to value and protect illegal aliens more than they do American citizens. Another example of Saldana’s protection of illegals was brought to the attention of the House committee when the father of Sarah Root testified before them. Contradicting Saldana’s claim that the death of Sarah Root was not due to a crime of violence and therefore ICE had no reason to take the illegal who killed her into custody. Root’s father told the committee that his daughter’s death was definitely an act of violence since the illegal was drunk and drag racing when he hit and killed Sarah.
I wonder if Saldana ever reads the news about some of the crimes committed by illegals with prior records and convictions? What would be her response to the senseless and brutal rape and murder of Marilyn Pharis? She was a US military veteran and retired civilian employee Vandenberg Air Force Base who lived in Santa Monica, California. On July 24, 2015, she was home sleeping when two illegals broke into her home. They beat her with a claw hammer, strangled, raped her and left for dead. Pharis died from her wounds several days later.
The two illegals have been identified as 29-year-old Victor Aureliano Martinez Ramirez and 20-year-old Jose Fernando Villagomez. Ramirez had been previously arrested and charged with committing battery against a woman and possession of meth. In May 2014 he was placed on probation.
Ralph Martin, Sheriff of Santa Barbara is irate over the crime and places blame on officials all the way up to the White House as he told the media:
“I think this is a national issue – it starts with administration and their policies.”
“You can draw a direct line to this governor and Legislature. I am not remiss to say that from Washington DC to Sacramento, there is a blood trail to Marilyn Pharis’ bedroom.”
I wonder what Saldana’s response is to the 2008 murder of a father and 2 sons by Edwin Ramos, an illegal living in San Francisco where he was protected by their sanctuary status? Ramos was a gangbanger with felony records who had previously attempted to assault and rob a pregnant woman.
I wonder what Saldana’s response is to the violent rape of a 9-year-old girl in the sanctuary city of Baltimore by Henry Estrella-Cordova, an illegal with a criminal record?
I wonder what Saldana’s response is to the 2015 murder of 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle? She was walking along the crowded Embarcadero pier in San Francisco when she collapsed on the pier after the family heard several loud sounds they said sounded like gunfire. Her father tried to give CPR to his daughter, but to no avail. Francisco Sanchez, 45, was an illegal from Mexico who had been deported five times. Sanchez had last been arrested in March 2015 by San Francisco police. He had seven felony convictions on his record which demands that he be arrested and deported.
I wonder what Saldana’s response would be to a Judicial Watch report that came out last year that stated:
“The Obama administration is refusing to divulge the names of the released criminals, which prevents law enforcement from protecting the public or notifying victims. Local authorities in Arizona, such as Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, have tried unsuccessfully to obtain information about this and other criminal alien releases by the Obama administration.”
“In 2014, a Judicial Watch lawsuit forced the release of 76 pages of DHS documents revealing that, as of April 26, 2014, the Obama administration had released 165,900 convicted criminal aliens throughout the United States, including many convicted of such violent crimes as homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. The reports we had at that time also showed that ICE had released another 30,000 in the most recent fiscal year, which brought the grand total of known criminals released by the Obama administration to 195,900. That number – and the attendant threat to the safety of you and every other American – is clearly on the rise.”
Secondly, I have a big problem with America having to keep illegals with criminal convictions here in OUR country because their home countries refuse to accept them. EXCUSE ME? One way or another, those illegals need to be returned, even if we have to parachute them over their home country. America should not be the criminal garbage dump of other nations.
It’s time America’s politicians wake up and realize the damage and violence being inflicted upon us by the millions of illegal aliens with and without prior criminal records. It’s time we take action to protect ourselves from the illegals. If our government won’t do it, then perhaps it’s time that the American people handle it by electing men and women who will place our safety, security and rights over illegals who really have no rights here in our country!
