Judge Neil Gorsuch has answered that it is settled law in reference to abortion and gay marriage. I wonder if he is aware that slavery was once settled law. Just because it is settled does not mean that it is morally or ethically right. Would he favor new laws to rid our crumbling society of directives that though settled are, as slavery was, wrong!
I don’t know what to think of him. The fact that Al Franken doesn’t seem to like him makes me believe that he must be a good judge. His answers make me seem to think that he understands the role of judges as set forth by the Constitution. However, they also make me wonder if he realizes that these confirmation hearings will be a cakewalk compared to being on the Supreme Court.
Reports say that conservative groups have outspent liberal ones by nearly 20 to 1 on behalf of Gorsuch. Don’t throw a party about that just yet. The truth is that while having a conservative on the bench is a good thing, the fact is he will simply be filling the robes left by Antonin Scalia. It will NOT change the makeup of the court, and therefore it is unlikely to have any true impact. I believe they are hoarding their cash and votes until the next seat opens up.
Anthony Kennedy who was nominated by Reagan and confirmed in 1988, can somebody please make sure he is eating his Wheaties? Oh, and can we send Ruth B Ginsburg on a parachuting adventure? If you don’t know who I am talking about follow this link http://www.thegreenpapers.com/Hx/SupremeCourt.html
It will show you who the Justices on the US Supreme Court are and who nominated them. You would think that our country would be in better shape. That’s what happens when we think instead of pray.
