Columbus was a Hero who Saved the New World

Progressives have been rewriting American history for over 100 years. Howard Zinn, their Moses, described himself as “something of an anarchist, something of a socialist. Maybe a democratic socialist.” He wrote their bible, A People’s History of the United States, which contains much of the false history now taught in public schools. As a result, progressives have largely succeeded in their efforts to indoctrinate our children with misinformation. But when you look at the facts, the Christopher Columbus story exposes the progressive ideology for what it is.

When Columbus decided to find a new route to the Indies, it was not just for trade. As a devout Christian, he believed God chose him to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the globe. Queen Isabel of Spain agreed so she approved and funded the voyage.

Columbus landed in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492. There he found a peaceful tribe of natives called Taino, or Arawaks, inhabited the island. Columbus and the crew soon forged a friendship with them. Columbus called the island Hispaniola, today known as Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

However, not all natives were peaceful like the Taino as the progressives would like you to believe. The Caribs were a savage, cannibalistic people who traveled from island to island in the Caribbean. They defeated, massacred and ate every Taino in sight. Columbus even lost some crew members in a later voyage to the Caribs.

At the same time, the Aztecs populated Mexico. Their god Huitzilopochtli required 1000 human sacrifices at each of his 300 temples yearly. Today we call those temples Planned Parenthood. Estimates approximate 1 out of every 5 children were sacrificed to the Aztec god. This did not include the minimum of 50,000 Mexicans sacrificed each year.  It is no wonder progressives, who want a lower human population, insist we celebrate these people instead of the man that brought Christianity to the new world. Progressives even practice their rituals.

Progressives condemn Columbus for bringing European imperialism to the Americas. They claim these “illegal” whites stole from and disrupted the natives with resettlement and warfare. Columbus is also condemned for the diseases brought to the continent with the new settlers. However, they now insist we must accept “undocumented” people coming here, stealing our jobs, our money through social programs, our property and our votes. The Obama Administration has flown and forced thousands of these children on cities across the country in his own, personal Trail of Tears.

Progressives demand open borders for all who wish to come bringing whatever native diseases they have. Our children are now being re-exposed to illnesses such as Chickenpox, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Hepatitis A-E, HIV and the Zika virus because of those flooding into the country unchecked. America has also seen an explosion in the bedbug population with the massive influx of illegals.

Scientists have carefully studied and recorded Native American tribe movements and settlements. Regions changed native tribe inhabitants frequently. What progressives overlook is how the areas exchanged hands. It was done just like the Europeans did it, through war and bloodshed.  This occurred for thousands of years before Columbus ever set foot in the Bahamas.

Progressives blame Europeans for bringing slavery to the New World. However, slavery already existed among the natives when Columbus arrived. As Columbus notes in his October 12, 1492, entry, “Many of the men I have seen have scars on their bodies, and when I made signs to them to find out how this happened, they indicated that people from other nearby islands come to San Salvador to capture them; they defend themselves the best they can. I believe that people from the mainland come here to take them as slaves.”

Many Christian settlers, like the pilgrims, fought slavery from the beginning. After breaking free from the King’s rule during the Revolutionary War, American’s did not stop until they rid the country of that disease in the Civil War and the newly formed Republican party.

America has brought progress in form of electricity, motorized vehicles, television, radio, electronics, drugs, and the list goes on. Progressives continuously complain about this true progress while denying third world countries access to it. They do this by forcing their personal “progressive” belief of Global Warming, wanting to limit poor countries the benefits of modern society.

Progressives condemn the European imperialists, not recognizing that war, conquest, and slavery existed in the Americas before European settlers arrived. Progressives condemn Columbus for bringing disease, slavery, and other European concepts to the Americas. However, the progressive solution is for us to become more like Europe.

Those who came to American after she became a nation were largely fleeing from the oppressive, tyrannical, binding governments of the countries the liberal/progressives want us so desperately to return to. Progressives should be celebrating our independence and separation from the imperial Europeans. Instead, they want us to go back to a time when citizens were enslaved by their government and controlled by the elite.

For progressives, it’s not about our past and the mistakes America has made. It’s not even about repenting and repaying for those sins. It’s about power. And how do they get that power? They find a way to make you feel guilty and then use that guilt to control you. The only way to survive as a country is to break free from that trap. We have to educate ourselves and then teach our children the truth.

Columbus didn’t bring war, conquest, and slavery. Those sins existed here before he landed. He brought the gospel of Christ that led to a new world and eventually a country that gave freedom to millions. Don’t allow the progressive to steal this from us and our children.

But that’s just my 2 cents.
