Tuesday, June 14 was Flag Day. I posted a history of the American flag and Flag Day. I shared the post on my Facebook page and wrote:
“Defy Obama! Today is Flag Day. Obama wants the American flag to be lowered for the gays that died and were wounded in Orlando, but I say defy him and fly the flag high and proudly for the history of our nation and the flag. For the history of the flag and Flag Day, please check out my article –“
A former acquaintance then posted on my FB Timeline:
“You call yourself a Christian, you should be ashamed of yourself.”
I found out she was referring to my post to defy Obama and fly the flag full staff. She accused me of being a hater of gays. We had a lengthy discourse back and forth and I repeatedly told her that I don’t hate gays, I hate the sin, which is biblical, yet she continued to say that I am hateful and wrong.
First, I told her that federal law requires the standing president to issue a proclamation on every Flag Day and that the American flag is to be raised to full staff, and Obama did neither, thus defying another federal law like he often does. I only encouraged people to obey federal law.
Then I took her to Scripture, directing her to Leviticus 20:10-16. Verse 13 states:
“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”
God’s words, not mine.
Then I took her to Romans 1:18-31 which describes the exact same punishment that America is under now. Again she called me a hater and said she didn’t know I was without sin. I ended up asking her if she could read and understand English because I had repeatedly kept telling her that I hate the sin, not the sinner. I challenged this woman to listen to a sermon series that spells out what the Bible says about homosexuality and provided this link to her.
She also said that I seemed to be used to defending my hate. I told her that Peter tells us to always be ready to give a defense of our faith in Jesus and that the only way to do that was to study God’s Word. I told her that the Bible is true from the first verse to the last verse and you can’t pick and choose. She agreed but then stated:
“I was thinking the same thing. You cannot pick and choose the parts of the bible that suit you. That would make you much like the radical muslims. I am sorry I did not know that you were without sin. I dont have to read the bible to know right from wrong. I believe the bible WAS God’s word before it was dissected and translated and changed by man to suit man.”
“It sounds like [you] no longer accept the Bible as the inerrant Word of God and that God is not capable of protecting His Word, which explains your misunderstanding of Scripture. As for defending my position, Peter tells us to always be reading to defend our faith in Christ Jesus and the only real way to be able to do that is to study God’s Word. In that way, I do give answers for the way I believe but I ALWAYS rely on the Bible for those answers and never did I say I was without sin, that’s another false and un-Christian accusation you’ve made. I am comfortable resting my position on the Bible and will continue to defend God’s Word until I find myself in His presence.”
What’s sad about this is that this woman claims to be a Christian but does not accept the Bible as God’s inerrant Word nor does she need to read the Bible to know what’s right and wrong. Had she read the Bible, she may have understood the difference between sin and sinner and what the Bible says about hating sin but loving the sinner. She would also have learned what the Bible says about homosexuality and how God judges a nation that openly accepts and approves of homosexuality (Romans 1:18-31.)
My discourse with this woman shows how so many people who claim to be Christian but never read their Bible have ended up compromising their beliefs with those of this secular world. They believe they know more than God when they have been listening more to sinful man than to God.
Secondly, it also displays how so many Americans, including many confused Christians, fail to comprehend that anyone can disapprove and speak out against homosexuality without being a hater of people. Biblically, homosexuality is no different than murder, rape, incest, etc., so why is it okay to speak out against these sins without being a hater but when one speaks the biblical view of homosexuality they are instantly accused of being a hater? It’s because gay activists have been successfully brainwashing a gullible and biblically ignorant people that anyone who doesn’t accept homosexuality is doing so because they hate gays. Isn’t it ironic that the people who preach tolerance are the most intolerant of anyone who doesn’t approve of their sinful lifestyle.
So I was personally attacked, had my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ attacked and called a hater because I stand on the Bible instead of on the prevailing anti-biblical secular worldview of sinful man. That tells me that I stand on the truth of God’s Word which the world, and even many wishy-washy pseudo-Christians hate because it shows them their sin, and I’ll continue to stand upon God’s Word until I breathe my last and enter into His holy presence, regardless of the consequences I might face on this earth.
