Something smells rotten in the state of Denmark.
If anything proves that the global warming nonsense has gone too far, this is it. Philip Hodges points out that the Danish Council of Ethics voted in favor of taxing red meat for the purpose of curbing global warming.
Why are they doing this? Because the climate change gurus do not believe that all global warming is man-made, up to ten percent of those greenhouse gasses are created from the methane in cow flatulence (if that’s really the case my older brother is responsible for another ten percent).
The folks in Denmark are taxing red meat in the hopes that people will stop eating it.
In a press release, the ethics council said Denmark was under direct threat from climate change, and it was not enough to rely on the “ethical consumer” to ensure the country meets its UN commitments.
“The Danish way of life is far from climate-sustainable, and if we are to live up to the Paris Agreement target of keeping the global temperature rise ‘well’ below 2°C, it is necessary both to act quickly and involve food,” the council said.
Cattle alone account for some 10 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, while the production of food as a whole makes up between 19 and 29 per cent, the council said.
Danes were “ethically obliged” to change their eating habits, it said, adding that it is “unproblematic” to cut out beef and still enjoy a healthy and nutritious diet.
Actually it is not just Cow farts but they belch too:
Cows are ruminant animals, that is, they have four compartments in their stomach. When they eat grass, bacteria in the first compartment, the rumen, softens it. The cow can then bring it all back up into its mouth and chew it again (chewing the cud). Because the process of food breakdown is anaerobic (without air) it produces methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. This is mostly belched, but partly farted.
Who knew that cows were such pigs!
Before you say, “that’s Denmark’s problem,” remember this:
According to the President’s latest plan to reduce methane, “in partnership with the dairy industry, the USDA, EPA and DOE will jointly release a “Biogas Roadmap” outlining voluntary strategies to accelerate adoption of methane digesters and other cost-effective technologies to reduce U.S. dairy sector greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent by 2020.”
In other words, the United States government is trying to reduce cow farts also, taxes may be next.
Of course, changing people’s behavior and eating habits will only work to curb global warming, if there is a link between carbon dioxide and the global climate. But the problem is…CO2 has been increasing but the temperature hasn’t. In fact despite what you may have heard the earth hasn’t gotten warmer in almost nineteen years.
Based on the satellite data, there has been no global warming since June 1997. Back then Al Gore had a real job and George Clooney was the new Batman. There was warming before June 97, and thanks to the El Nino there may be warming in the near future (at least until the La Niña starts or the lack of sunspot activity throws us into a mini ice age as some scientists are predicting).
Those claims of the hottest temperatures on record are “sort of” true also. But those numbers use land based temperature readings rather than satellite data. Climate scientists actually preferred the satellite data as being more accurate until it started disproving their global warming hypothesis. Even when the land-based numbers are used, what they are talking about as record temperatures is only a hundredth of a degree.
When one consider that CO2 levels are rising, but the temperatures aren’t, the only logical conclusion is the climate change hypothesis is wrong. Well either that or these poor cows are about to explode because they haven’t farted or belched in almost two decades (or someone is feeding all the cows Gas-x).
