Bill & Hillary Clinton Scammed $16.5 Million From the State Department

Much attention has been given to the presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and Trump University, but there’s been no media coverage or scrutiny of the Democratic frontrunner, Hillary Clinton’s, husband Bill Clinton— who raked in roughly $16 million for working with “Laureate International Universities.”

On April 24, 2010, Bill Clinton began his role as “honorary chancellor” for the Laureate system, right in the middle of Hillary’s term as Secretary of State. This raises serious questions that haven’t been asked or investigated: why did colleges in the Laureate system receive huge grants AFTER Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State? Isn’t this yet another scandal that no one wants to touch?

The connection of the Laureate system to the Clinton Foundation has definite links that should be exposed. The more money the Laureate system received, the more money the Clinton Foundation received. From the The New York Times and Bloomberg News:

the “…world’s largest for-profit college chain – has been a seven – figure donor to the Clinton Foundation, giving between $1 million and $5 million, according to the foundation’s website. Laureate has also made five commitments through the Clinton Global Initiative.” This on first sight may seem like a normal business item, but once anyone sees the increase of “Grants” since Hillary was Secretary of State, it then brings into question if Hillary used her office of State to get the “Grants.”

One of the financial backers is none other than George Soros. Strange how George Soros keeps popping up with the Clinton Foundation. The link between the Clintons and the Laureate system seems to indicate that some sort of influence may have been given to direct money back to the Clinton Foundation.

“In April 2015, Bill Clinton was forced to abruptly resign from his lucrative perch as honorary chancellor of Laureate Education, a for-profit college company. The reason for Clinton’s immediate departure: Clinton Cash revealed, and Bloomberg confirmed, that Laureate funneled Bill Clinton $16.46 million over five years while Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. pumped at least $55 million to a group run by Laureate’s founder and chairman, Douglas Becker, a man with strong ties to the Clinton Global Initiative. Laureate has donated between $1 million and $5 million (donations are reported in ranges, not exact amounts) to the Clinton Foundation. Progressive billionaire George Soros is also a Laureate financial backer.

As the Washington Post reports, “Laureate has stirred controversy throughout Latin America, where it derives two-thirds of its revenue.” During Bill Clinton’s tenure as Laureate’s chancellor, the school spent over $200 million a year on aggressive telemarketing, flashy Internet banner ads, and billboards designed to lure often unprepared students from impoverished countries to enroll in its for-profit classes. The goal: get as many students, regardless of skill level, signed up and paying tuition.”

Maybe Hillary Clinton used her office and directed the grants to Laureate to help her husband “earn” $16.46 million. Either way, it evidences a strong connection among the Clintons, the Laureate system, and the Clinton Foundation.

Some news outlets did seek to expose these dealings, but once again, it seems that no matter how much facts may indicate Clinton using her office for political and financial gain, the facts fall short for some reason or another.

The Washington Post reports, “Laureate has stirred controversy throughout Latin America, where it derives two-thirds of its revenue.”

During Bill Clinton’s tenure as Laureate’s chancellor, the school spent over $200 million a year on aggressive telemarketing, flashy Internet banner ads, and billboards designed to lure often unprepared students from impoverished countries to enroll in its for-profit classes. The goal: get as many students, regardless of skill level, signed up and paying tuition.

“I meet people all the time who transfer here when they flunk out elsewhere,” agronomy student Arturo Bisono, 25, told The Post. “This has become the place you go when no one else will accept you.”

Others, like Rio state legislator Robson Leite who led a probe into Bill Clinton’s embattled for-profit education scheme, say the company is all about extracting cash, not educating students. “They have turned education into a commodity that focuses more on profit than knowledge,” said Leite.

Progressives have long excoriated for-profit education companies for placing profits over quality pedagogy. Still, for five years, Bill Clinton allowed his face and name to be plastered all over Laureate’s marketing materials. As Clinton Cash revealed, pictures of Bill Clinton even lined the walkways at campuses like Laureate’s Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey.

What brings the question of influence by the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey, where for-profit colleges are illegal, as they are in Mexico and Chile, where “Hillary” (Laureate) colleges operate.  Could the use of her office of Secretary of State have played a part in these nations allowing what would otherwise be illegal? It would seem that perhaps Hillary made an “arrangement” with these nations to “allow” this one particular college, Laureate, to operate?  That would appear to be implied because of how Hillary Clinton’s State Department began pumping millions of USAID into International Youth Foundation, which is yet another story in itself.

Just think of what Donald Trump would be going through if someone affiliated with him did this!

But there is much more that Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, did to help the Clinton Foundation and other Clinton objectives.

“Shortly after Bill Clinton’s lucrative 2010 Laureate appointment, Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. began pumping millions of its USAID dollars to a sister nonprofit, International Youth Foundation (IYF), which is run by Laureate’s founder and chairman, Douglas Becker. Indeed, State Dept. funding skyrocketed once Bill Clinton got on the Laureate payroll,” according to Bloomberg:

“A Bloomberg examination of IYF’s public filings show that in 2009, the year before Bill Clinton joined Laureate, the nonprofit received 11 grants worth $9 million from the State Department or the affiliated USAID. In 2010, the group received 14 grants worth $15.1 million. In 2011, 13 grants added up to $14.6 million. The following year, those numbers jumped: IYF received 21 grants worth $25.5 million, including a direct grant from the State Department.

Throughout ten Democratic Party debates, Establishment Media have not asked Hillary Clinton a single question about she and her husband’s for-profit education scam.”

Isn’t it amazing that grants given to Laureate increased while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State? Why has this not been front and center in the debate of Clinton scams?  Just look at the grants given before Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State. Laureate received only 11 grants worth about $9 million. Yet during Hillary Clinton’s term as Secretary of State, Laureate received 48 grants – more than 4 times the amount of grants it received before Hillary became Secretary of State.

How strange is it that much of the $55 million plus received by Laureate during Hillary Clinton’s term as Secretary of State came directly from the State Department?  Isn’t this abuse of power? Conflict of interest? But will this corruption ever be brought to light so it can be examined?

The American people must show the Clintons for what they are: scam artists who take money from the very people they say they help.
